Introducing NeuroMed by Sambria Pharmaceuticals
Sambria Pharmaceuticals are a company in the USA that specialises in manufacturing topical pain reduction creams and calls them Neuro Med BLT.
Each of the Nero Med BLT products are FDA/USA registered and approved for topical use.
The product is unique because it features three types of skin numbing products.
So each one has a different style of working and you can choose which works for you.
Lidocaine (4%) Benzocaine (20%) , Tetracaine (2%)
- Lidocaine is commonly known to have a medium onset and medium duration with a deeper than benzocaine penetration.
- Benzocaine is commonly known to be very fast acting with a fairly shallow degree of penetration and a short duration. It is included for its rapid onset
- Tetracaine is commonly known to have a medium onset, long duration and the deepest penetration of the three.
They are also unique in that they come in single dosage packs, which is far more hygienic than a tube hanging around for ages and being used on multiple clients
In the US, clinicians typically combine the three creams together to form one uniform cream. It is commonly reported that this provides the highest degree of efficacy
It is reportedly most common for clinicians to, open each sachet and squeeze together equal amounts of each product into a mixing utensil.. The three creams are mixed together until they appear to be an even uniform combination.
In the UK its your informed choice as to whether you copy our USA colleagues as the laws on numbing cream do differ so please do check your countries bylaws on Numbing cream before proceeding.
WE ADVISE ALWAYS PATCH TEST YOUR CLIENTS. The sachets are in handy one dose strips so you could give this to your client to take home where she removes a small amount of each cream to patch test and returns with her sachet for you to use the rest. This way she will also identify the best product for her.
When applying any numbing cream, making sure the skin is clean and dry first. Apply to the skin evenly and where possible rub into the skin vigorously. (the friction heat from the vigorous rubbing helps active ingredients penetrate more rapidly into the skin)
Obviously this not possible on the eyelids. As you are aware, the eyelids are typically more sensitive than other areas you may be treating so treat always with the highest of care as you have been trained to do.
Allow the product to dry and leave in place for 30/35 mins, then remove with a damp, warm, sterile non-woven gauze (or similar) pat, dry and start to treat.
